Growth Achievement Satisfaction

“There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.”

Growth:

Before joining Toastmasters, I’ve already completed M.Tech in BITS and having 12 years of IT Experience.

Why I’ve joined Toastmasters?

1.       I’m very much struggled to improve my communication skills.

2.       I could not convey my thoughts properly and could not do elevated speech with managers.

3.       Once getting more experience in my career, soft skills are also required along with technical skills. (Maturity to handle things / represent yourself / Leadership).

4.       I struggled lot to overcome it.

Time investment:

Many people don’t care or don’t know about their requirements or improvement areas.

Even though few people identified their improvement areas, most of them might say;

“I’m too busy, don’t have time, overwhelmed, Hectic Schedule, No leaves, Need to find a right opportunity”

My thought is “Do something extra to stay far from comfort zone” and focused on my improvement areas which help in my Career.

I believe in “What you invest your TIME in defines who you are …”

The most expensive investment is TIME investment, Not Money….

One of my Office friends introduced a new word called “Toastmaster”.

So I joined Toastmasters International, to develop my Leadership Skills & Public Speaking.

Mentor:

Mentors will play a crucial role in each one’s life; to identify the hidden potential on you.

1.       DTM Prasanna

2.       TM Manoj Lenka

Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible

Become an Early Riser

1.     Every New Morning is a chance to change your life.

2.     Many early risers use their morning quiet time for organization, goal-setting and planning out their days and weeks ahead.

3.     Every New morning starts a new page in your life story.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Started my Toastmaster journey as Table Topic Speaker, Timer & Ah Counter for a month.

As every Toastmaster starts, I’ve started my first prepared Ice Breaker speech.

The process Chennai Champions follows:

·       Prepare the Speech script atleast 3 weeks before.

·       Get review by Mentor and modify accordingly

·       Rehearse as many as possible

In a fast pace, I’ve completed my Level 1, which motivates me to complete Level 2.

But due to official release work, there is no much progress on my Level 3.

If you get tired, learn to REST not to QUIT.

Life doesn’t give what you want. Life gives you what you deserve.

After 6 months, the Club election announced. I consult with my mentor and convey like I would like to nominate for Vice President Membership role.

I told him that I observed how the previous Executive Committee members helped in conducting a smooth meeting. But many of us don’t know their groundwork like cleaning, organizing and motivating club members.

I became the Vice President Membership where I make much progress towards my Leadership journey.

Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.

Along with regular Pathway, participated in International Speech contest & Table Topics Contest.

Achievement:

Leaders are born and not made. If this is true, then the $14 billion dollars spent annually on leadership development is a rather colossal waste of money.

How to Become a Leader?

With help of L2P2 – Understand the common Leadership styles and what are the traits I’ve?

After completing 2 Levels, I became the Mentor for 2 members.

I reviewed their prepared speech scripts and assist in other role plays.

I got an opportunity to become a Vice President Education to conduct & manage the meetings.

Closely worked with the President, VPM & VPPR to promote the club activities as much as possible.

The more you work to better yourself as a leader the more exponential payoff is to those around you.

Identified my Life purpose; as a Motivational Life Coach to inspire, motivate, and transform to flourish everyone up to enable them to become the best

As Leaders, we should learn from our mistakes.

Because mistakes are steppingstones to reach our cherished moments.

I got opportunities to perform Roles such as

·       Tall Tales Contest Master & Chair

·       Area & Division Level Voting Judge.

·       Club Level Chief Judge

·       Other Contest Management Roles.

Attended many Toastmasters Leadership Events which are very useful personally and professionally.

Some of them would be much costlier outside and even it was not arranged in corporate itself.

Completed my Level 3 and Level 4.

In Covid Time, I learned new skills as ZOOM Master and continued for my entire VPE term.

Satisfaction

How do I measure whether I’m satisfied with Toastmasters? (What is the core of Toastmasters?)

Evaluation:

I evaluated myself personally, professionally, socially how I was in 2018 and now in 2021?

An investment in knowledge pays the best Interest.

Whatever I learned and achieved, until you get to practice or implement, nothing will help you.

When I joined Toastmasters, I saw a very young girl who was the President of Chennai Champions.

A thought came, how she achieved and helped all of the club members?

Can I become the President of the Club? Is it Possible?

Yes. It’s Possible. In Jul 2020, I became the President of the Chennai Champions Club.

Every week, I shared one motivational story at the start of the meeting.

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.

“The more difficult the Workout, the greater the satisfaction”

Believed in teamwork and achieved DCP 10 points as a President Distinguished club.

Achieved Triple Crown Award and completed Leadership Development & Pathways Mentor Program.

Not only I’m satisfied within Toastmasters fraternity, in my career

·       Continuously shared my Toastmasters speech videos

·       Became a Brand Ambassador

·       Got an opportunity to share my views with CTO & SVP

·       Awarded as Future Talent

Outside Toastmasters & Professional:

·       Blogger

·       YouTuber

·       Active LinkedIn user by posting motivation posts.

·       Earned small gifts by posting reviews on Gartner

·       Upcoming preacher

I learned many new ideas, implementations, success stories from club members. All the senior members are very motivating.

In one of the meetings our Club mentor told that I followed a process and followed every day, which would help to become a “Senior Manager” now.

I also thought whether it will happen to me.
Now it happened. Last month I’ve joined a new company with a very good package.

To change for the better is to grow.
In growth, we find achievement, which brings satisfaction to Soul.
